Assessment Day FAQ
WHAT IS THE TIMING OF THE DAY?
Please arrive at Northmount between 8:00 – 8:15 a.m. to be ready for morning assembly which starts promptly at 8:25 a.m.
School ends at 3:45 p.m. but your son is welcome to stay for recess which runs until 4:00 p.m. Note: For Kindergarten applications, please pick up your son at 12 noon.
WHAT SHOULD HE WEAR?
Your son should be smartly dressed. If you have black shoes, gray dress pants and a white shirt then they will fit in with the uniform of the school — however, this is not necessary if you do not have these items.
WHAT WILL HE EAT?
Your son is welcome to have a complementary hot lunch. These are provided by HealthyKidz and are ordinarily available at an additional cost. Alternatively, you can choose to pack your own lunch. Most of the boys choose to bring snacks for morning recess. If you are bringing a snack, please ensure it is nut free.
WHAT SHOULD MY SON BRING?
He will need shorts/t-shirt/running shoes for gym class. Recess is outdoors so please have outdoor shoes and hats/coat/gloves etc. as necessary. Snacks/lunch — please see above.
WHAT WILL MY SON BE DOING FOR THE DAY?
Your son will be following the timetable with his peers. During this time our teachers are observing his interactions with his classmates, his work ethic and his general demeanor He will also spend some time with our support teacher doing math, reading and writing assessments.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM THE PARENT INTERVIEW?
You will meet with two members of the school leadership team to discuss your application to Northmount This is a two-way conversation to ensure “proper fit” for both parents and the school.
WHEN WILL I KNOW HOW MY SON DID?
Following the assessment day, the Admissions Team will meet to review all aspects of the application. A decision is usually reached relatively quickly, and you will be informed as to whether or not an offer has been made within a few days.
