The Northmount Knights 2017-2018 athletic season began with a cross country meet. It was a day of fun for students from grades one to eight. The students enjoyed the sunshine and cheering each other on as they watched their friends cross the finish line. A big “shout out” to Patrick and Nicholas for their incredible results in the Under 10 Category.
The volleyball team was open to students in grades 6-8. After much practice and hard work, the team came up on the losing end in a heartbreaking loss in the semi-finals. The boys should be congratulated for their competitive spirit and sportsmanship.
The soccer pitch witnessed a strong team with a large contingent of young talent. They did well during the tournament and made it all the way to the quarter finals. There is reason to believe that next year bodes well for Northmount soccer.
This past Fall, the athletics program also introduced two new sports: golf and curling. The golf team was open to students from grades 2-8. After honing their skills, the boys competed in the inaugural “Northmount Open” and congratulations to Marc, the low scorer.
Curling tryouts were held in late November. It was an exciting opportunity for our students as most had no previous experience with the sport. The team is presently practicing for their bonspiels held during the winter season.
Though Northmount’s small school environment is by choice, the athletic program is robust. Students participate in a variety of sports, develop a passion for new activities, and compete at a high level. The Northmount Knights are sure to continue their success throughout the rest of the school year.
Go Knights Go!
